TCP/IP has become the preferred method of networking
iSeries and other computer systems. The widespread adoption of Internet and
Intranet technologies has only served to fuel the growth in networking with
TCP/IP. This four day course explores TCP/IP and the TCP/IP applications.
On completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Define the functionality of TCP/IP.
- Identify and install the hardware required to support TCP/IP on the
iSeries.
- Configure TCP/IP on the iSeries.
- Allocate IP addresses to devices in a network.
- Name the major TCP/IP applications.
- Configure and use TELNET.
- Configure and use FTP server and client.
- Configure and use LPR/LPD.
- Configure and use DNS.
This course is for data processing staff with little or
no practical experience of TCP/IP in an iSeries environment. It is suitable for
all iSeries staff, including operations, support and management.
An operational knowledge of the iSeries is expected,
such as that provided by the iSeries OPERATIONS course. A thorough
understanding of data communications principles is required, such as that
provided by the iSeries NETWORK PRINCIPLES course.
